Chocolate Brioche
A classic and enjoyable breakfast bread; light, sweet, and compliments a hot beverage.
Ingredients
- 500g of flour
- 215ml of lukewarm milk
- 13g of yeast
- 3 eggs
- 75g of sugar
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 100g of melted butter
- 100g chocolate chips
Prep: 1h 40 min.
Cook: 20 min.
Directions
- Sift 500g of flour into a bowl.
- Pour the 75g of sugar and mix.
- In a glass, pour 15ml of milk, and mix with the 13g of yeast. Stir and mix well. Then pour into the bowl.
- Break 3 eggs and pour them into the bowl and mix.
- Pour the packet of vanilla sugar into the mix. You can also use a tablespoon of vanilla extract.
- Pour 200ml of lukewarm milk into the bowl and mix for 3 mins. Add the salt while mixing.
- Add the 100g of melted butter and mix. You can use a KitchenAid mixer to do the mixing as well for 5-10 mins.
- Let the dough rise for approx. 1h 15 mins.
- Mix the dough again, and add in the chocolate chips.
- Break the dough into three even sized balls. Stretch into long segments and interweave them to make a braid. Leave the dough to rest for 20 mins.
- Mix 2 egg yolks and brush the mix over the dough.
- Preheat oven to 180 C (360 F), and bake for 20 mins. Enjoy!
